(AUBURN) - Auburn Police report an Illinois man crashed his SUV while driving northbound on I-69 at around 5:30 Friday morning. The man told police he thought he was taking an exit near mile marker 333. Instead, he drove his car off the road and through a section of barbed wire fence, landing the vehicle on its side in a water-filled ditch. The driver was pinned by the vehicle's steering wheel. He was pulled to safety by DeKalb Sheriff's Deputies and an Auburn Police Office. The driver reported no injuries, but he was taken to a hospital after displaying symptoms of hypothermia. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
