LaGrange Native Honored for 25 Years With ISP

(FORT WAYNE) – A LaGrange native is one of four troopers honored for 25 years of service with the Indiana State Police.

Captain Deven Hostetler graduated from Lakeland High School in 1991 and Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan in 1995. Before becoming an Indiana State Police Trooper, Captain Hostetler worked for the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and Kendallville Police Department.

After graduating from the 59th Indiana State Police Academy class, Hostetler was assigned to the Toll Road Post. In 2003, he was granted a transfer to the Fort Wayne Post where he served LaGrange and Noble Counties.

In 2008 Hostetler was promoted from road patrol to the Investigations Bureau to serve as a detective at the Fort Wayne District. He was promoted again in 2016 to Sergeant and worked as the Investigative Squad Leader, and then to 1st Sergeant to serve as the district Investigative Commander in 2018.

Captain Hostetler was promoted in 2022 to Lieutenant and then to Captain in 2025 in the Investigations Bureau where he currently leads as the Commander of Field Investigations.

Captain Hostetler and his family reside in rural LaGrange County.
