(JAMESTOWN TOWNSHIP) – An Angola man has been arrested in connection with the recent theft of a vehicle.
At 2:30 PM on June 5, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen work van from a local business in the 600 block of West State Road 120 in rural Jamestown Township. The vehicle was recovered the next day in a parking lot near the intersection of State Road and County Road 400 North.
Sheriff's detectives then began gathering evidence and information during the investigation to identify a suspect. Through investigative efforts, Sheriff's detectives were able to identify 35 year old Shane Michael Rakentine of Angola as the alleged suspect.
Just after 9 AM Tuesday, detectives located Rakentine at his residence at the American Inn on State Road 127. After a brief interview, Rakentine was taken into custody for level 6 felony auto theft and misdemeanor possession of Marijuana.
Rakentine was booked into the Steuben County Jail where he remains held in lieu of a $4,000 bond. The Angola Police Department assisted the Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
