Local Fire Departments Win DNR Money to Fight Wildland Fires

(INDIANA) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has distributed over $450,000 to 100 rural and volunteer fire departments across 54 Indiana counties. The funding, known as a Volunteer Fire Assistance Capacity award, was given to local departments including those in Angola, Fremont, Metz and Garrett, Howe, LaGrange, and Albion. The awards, which range from $1,000 to $5,000 per department, are intended to be used for training, radios, or other essential equipment needed for fighting wildland fires.
