Trine Men's Golf Places Third at Olivet Invitational

The Trine University men's golf team placed third of four teams at the Olivet Invitational hosted by Olivet (MI) College at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, MI.

Trine accumulated a team score of 311 strokes to take third. Adrian (MI) College won the team title with 297 strokes and Calvin (MI) College was second with 302 strokes.

Three of the five team eligible scores were in the top-10 led by sophomore Mitch Lowney who finished in a tie for seventh place with a round of 76 strokes. Freshman Mark Civanich and senior Carlos Coeto both carded scores of 77 strokes to finish tied for second on the team and 10th overall.

Senior Todd Mieske was fourth at 81 strokes and tied for 18th among the field. Freshman Jackie Brockie rounded out the varsity scores with 83 strokes which put him in a tie for 23rd.

Several additional players competed as individuals highlighted by junior Jeffrey Uhls who fired a 74 and placed in a tie for fourth. Senior Cameron Ruge and sophomore Mitch Blank finished back-to-back with scores of 76 and 80 strokes. Ruge ended the afternoon in a tie for seventh and Blacnk was 17th.

Senior Zach Frane, sophomore Jacob Roeder, freshman Jordan Brandman and junior Justin Glessner rounded out the field for Trine with Frane and Roeder both posting rounds of 83 strokes to tie for 23rd place. Brandman finished in a 26th place after navigating the course in 84 strokes and Glessner was 27th with 84 strokes.

Trine will compete in another event hosted by Olivet on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at The Medalist Golf Course in Marshall, Mich. The single-round event is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
