(ANGOLA) – The City of Angola will be performing routine, annual flushing and maintenance of their fire hydrants.
Angola Water Superintendent Mitchel Sattison says the flushing will begin Monday, September 15 and run through Friday, September 26 from 7 AM until 4 PM each day.
The Northeast Section of the city will be the first to have their hydrants flushed from September 15 to September 17. That is the area north of East Maumee Street and East of North Wayne Street.
Next will be the Southeast Section which is east of South Wayne Street and South of East Maumee Street. Those hydrants will be flushed from September 17 through September 19.
Crews will then move to the Northwest Section. That’s north of West Maumee Street and west of North Wayne Street, where hydrants will be flushed from September 22 to September 24.
The last area to be flushed will be the Southwest Section, or west of South Wayne Street and south of West Maumee Street. That will take place from September 24 through September 26.
Sattison says good maintenance programs are essential in preserving water quality. He says if the piping network is not maintained properly, it can cause water quality to deteriorate.
Sattison says they request that you refrain from doing laundry during the times that hydrants are flushed in your area due to the possible discoloration of water from iron and manganese sediments.
