(UNDATED) – Due to the threat of extremely cold air moving through the area, a weather alert has been issued.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Watch from 1 AM Monday until 10 AM on Wednesday for St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Hillsdale Counties in Michigan, along with LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, Elkhart and DeKalb Counties in Indiana.

Cold and windy conditions over the next few days could drop wind chills to as much as 25 below zero. Those temperatures could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Please remember to limit your time outside in these conditions. Also wear a hat, gloves, a face mask and scarf.
