(LAGRANGE) – Lakeland School Corporation has found someone to buy the Lima-Brighton School building.
The Lakeland School Board unanimously accepted an offer from World Olivet Assembly for $1.1 million for the Lima-Brighton building in Howe. They plan to use the building to create a K-12 program for the children of the staff and students at the nearby Great Commission University, which purchased the former Howe Military School facility.
In addition to World Olivet Assembly, another offer for the building was made by Shalom Church at $433.000. That was below the average of the two appraisals that was done on the building and could not be considered.
The Board says that if the School Corporation were to keep Lima-Brighton, it would result in a decrease in the education fund of $749,999 over the next three years.
The Lakeland School Corporation will continue to run its programs at Lima-Brighton through the end of the 2024-2025 school year. They will then be moved to other facilities.
