ORLAND, IN — Another person has died as a result of a crash which happened last week in Steuben County.
The crash happened just before 4 PM Friday, August 5th, on State Road 120 near County Road 850 West, roughly a mile east of Orland.
An accident investigation revealed a blue 2007 Nissan Titan pickup truck driven by Donald Gene Squires, age 50 of Howe, was traveling westbound on 120 when it drifted left of the center line and hit an eastbound silver 2012 Volkswagen car.
Reports indicate the two vehicles appeared to have collided nearly head-on.
A woman in the front passenger seat of the Volkswagen, Breanna Jeanne Bright, age 33 of Fremont, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Lonnie Lee Bright, age 43 of Fremont, and two children were hospitalized in critical condition following the accident.
On Wednesday, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office said Lonnie Bright had succumbed to his injuries. Several family members have shared that even though his passing his a loss for them, he was able to save several others through organ donation.
One of the children, 5-year-old Journey Bright, remains in critical condition.
Granger Bright, who is 3 months old, was treated for his injuries the day of the accident and has since been released.
The sheriff’s office said neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be a factor in the crash.
Friends and family of the Brights have started a drive to help their children and cover funeral expenses: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2580745538723054&id=100003628980755&sfnsn=mo
