FREMONT — A Fort Wayne man was taken into custody by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department after he allegedly fired a handgun at another motorist.
The incident took place Sunday afternoon near Little Otter Lake, just west of Fremont.
The male subject, identified as 21 year-old Wilsonny O. Excelus reportedly cut off another vehicle on State Road 127. He allegedly leaned out of the window of a vehicle and fired a shot into the ground. Before heading to southbound Interstate 69, he also reportedly pointed the gun at the other driver and their passenger.
After being sought by authorities and found, Excelus was charged with a Level 6 felony pointing a firearm and Class A misdemeanor possession of a handgun without a permit. He also was charged with a Class B misdemeanor possession of marijuana and Class C misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
The case has been turned over to Steuben Superior Court.
