(DEKALB COUNTY) – Indiana State Police are investigating a burglary incident that turned deadly in DeKalb County.
Detectives say four burglary suspects armed with a gun, are alleged to have broken into a residential property in the 1600 block of State Road 8 at 6 AM Sunday. They confronted the homeowner, who then allegedly produced his own firearm, and fired at the suspects.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department and the Auburn Police Department arrived on scene and reported two deceased suspects inside the residence, and two other suspects being held at gunpoint by the homeowner.
Authorities say the two deceased individuals have been identified as 36 year old Rameica Moore of Fort Wayne and 22 year old Dylan Morefield of Churubusco. Their families have been notified.
Officers arrested 42 year old Tabitha Johnson and 42 year old Shaun Kruse, both of Fort Wayne, on charges of felony murder and burglary.
At this time, no criminal charges have been lodged against the homeowner.
Autopsies are pending with the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center.
