LAGRANGE – Parkview LaGrange Hospital and Parkview Physicians Group – General Surgery have hired a new full time general surgeon.
Dr. Ariel Spencer has been added to the surgical staff. He is board-certified in general surgery, a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Spencer received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City. He completed residency training in general surgery at the University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois, and Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition, he served as a research fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
Spencer has a particular interest in caring for patients with cancer. He works closely with the Parkview Cancer Institute (PCI) and participates in the PCI’s virtual case consultations with other cancer surgeons and oncologists. For cancer patients in LaGrange County, Dr. Spencer is able to provide many of the same services offered at the PCI in Fort Wayne while enabling patients to remain near to their families and support systems.
Spencer says providing continuity means being available to his patient throughout the duration of their treatment. He says continuity also means he tries to help patients avoid unnecessary testing or duplication of services.
Spencer will see surgical outpatients and performs surgeries at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, 207 North Townline Road, Suite 101, in LaGrange. To arrange an appointment with Dr. Spencer, call 260-463-9335.
