STURGIS, MI - Despite the financial conditions in St. Joseph County, the 11th annual WBET Radiothon is being called a success.
For 18 hours on Thursday, celebrity DJ teams along with WBET air staff worked to raise money for the St. Joseph County United Way. At 11:55 PM, United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler stepped to the microphone to announce that $101,931.18 had been raised.
Hostetler says the top three Celebrity DJ Teams are Morgan Olsen, who raised $37,792; The Sturgis Elks Club with $28,365 and Sturgis Hospital who raised $10,876.
All of the money raised will be used by the United Way to assist 39 different agencies in the County. Hostetler says because of the coronavirus pandemic, she was concerned about how much money would be raised by the Radiothon.
Hostetler says she is blown away by the generosity of St. Joseph County residents to give from the heart to help others. In 2019, the Radiothon raised $97,556 for the United Way.
St. Joseph County United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler shares the total raised during the 11th annual WBET Radiothon.
