PAULDING, OH – Authorities have charged a woman with felonious assault after they say she shot her boyfriend, who was assaulting her and her son. So far, two people have been charged.
The Paulding County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an alleged assault and shooting in Paulding, Ohio. A news release said officers responded to 7871 State Route 111 shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night, for a reported domestic violence situation with at least one shot fired.
A preliminary investigation has revealed Alisha M. Shepherd, age 36, shot her boyfriend, Louis A. Wannemacher, also age 36. The two reportedly lived together at the residence. Reports indicate he was allegedly assaulting Shepherd and her 12-year-old son at the time.
Authorities say the bullet grazed Wannemacher’s neck. He was transported to a hospital and later released after treatment. Wannemacher was taken into custody on two counts of domestic violence, a 1st degree misdemeanor, after his release from the hospital.
Shepherd was charged with one count of felonious assault, a 2nd degree felony.
Both adults are scheduled to appear in Paulding County Municipal Court via video arraignment at 9 a.m. Monday morning.
The incident remains under investigation by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department and the Paulding County Prosecutor’s Office.
