Opposition Comes From Autoworkers From Closed GM Plants
Wednesday, October 23, 2019

With a preliminary deal met last week between both General Motors and the United Auto Workers union, some workers from previously closed plants want the new contract voted down out of fear that the automotive giant will look to close down more plants in the future.

The message of “If they can close our plant, they can close yours, too," rang by workers of three shuttered General Motors factories that did not get new products to produce in said factories under the new tentative contract.

Many workers from these closed factories say t hey want to vote down the contract and continue the strike that has now gone strong into the six wek mark. However, few truly think that they will be successful because the new agreement is too attractive to the majority of UAW members working at the operating General Motors facilities.
